As I sit and write this with everything that has happened this last week and, as the projects I was due to work on over the next few weeks are cancelled, it took me back to the uncertain future that lay ahead when I first set up Edmundson Design eight years ago. Back then I had no idea if I would last one month never mind eight years as a freelancer. I gave myself 6 months or I would have to change career.

Fortunately it’s turned out ok…so far.

Who knows what the next few weeks, months and years will bring. I am hoping that some good will come from this and make us all realise the important things in life, and to try and think of others more.

I feel extremely fortunate to do what I do, but at the end of the day it’s only work. I am in awe of anyone working in public services putting their lives at risk for the sake of others. In such uncertain and difficult times we are being faced with, it certainly puts everything into perspective of what is important and what is not.

If there is one thing I’ve learned over the last eight years it’s to try not to worry too much about what will happen and to be thankful for what you have, as you never know when this will change.

Everyone’s livelihood will be affected by the current coronavirus outbreak, plaguing our daily lives for the foreseeable future. Life, as we know it is about to change immeasurably, but I’m convinced we’ll come through this for the better in many ways. Freelancers in all sectors face an uncertain future and will all be anxious and worried at the moment. Businesses, both small and large will adapt and continue as best they can and the most important thing is we all must try and stick together and support each other to get us through these challenging times.

Stay safe everyone. x
