The owners of Manor House 1707 in Sedgefield recently opened a new private bar in the Cellar of the historic County Durham building called The Pineapple Bar.
Pineapples used to be a symbol of wealth and status when the Manor House was built in 1707 and two are situated on top of pillars at the entrance to the building. They were considered a luxury item and also signified being welcome and hospitable.
Pineapples are also a popular ingredient in cocktail making, so it was an obvious choice to name the bar after them, as was designing the logo with a Pineapple symbol.
